This blog obsessively follows the Cleveland Indians baseball team. It is a lot more active during the regular season, but addresses team issues with analytical humor, humorous analysis, and a lot of calling bad players "fungi." You can subscribe to its RSS feed here:

A Bedtime Story
Once upon a time, there was a team that got thoroughly dominated by Colby Freaking Lewis.
I was there, amongst the smallest crowd in Jacobs Field history. Despite my 3-year-old being on the Jumbotron "winning" us seats behind home plate (there were plenty), this...this doesn't feel good.
It's infuriating. I know it's only 8 games, but I am straining to think of something I actually LIKE about this team. Choo is hitting, but half of his hits seem like flares. Virtually nothing else works offensively. From the pitchers, I guess Carmona. Maybe Jen Lewis. Maybe Huff. Our defense might be the best part of the whole damn team. Who would have thought THAT?
It's driving me nuts. I can't do a whole season like this.
I'm starting to think the reason I think Grady Sizemore is a good player is because he plays on the Cleveland Indians. This is why I wanted Carlos Santana on the squad THIS year -- because otherwise it's a completely unwatchable team.
As is too often the case when we disagree, Bob, you were right again. As awesome as it is to watch Tofu Lou steal a base while sporting an OPS equal to his OBP (hard to do, BTW), I have to say that it's very hard to come up with fan-type reasons to follow closely.
ths is a very tough team to watch. there is no personality, no fire, no clue. the jake looked a lot like municipal when bonda and oniel were giving us horrible team after horrible team year after year. there is no reason to part with your cash to watch this team. it's sad to see what the dolans have done to a successful team in such a short time.
Chris hit it right on the head. I saw this in the 1970s. Why watch the same train wreck again? Back then, I was young and stupid, and believed we could win with some breaks. Now I know how winning ball clubs are built, and find myself losing interest. The Indians have played 8 games, and I have seen parts of two. I used to be a diehard Tribe fan, watching 90+% of games, but now the Cavs and Red Wings are far more interesting to me, and hopefully will be until June. After that, who knows.
Steve Buffum grew up a Cleveland sports fan in Akron, OH. He now works as a data cudgeller in Austin, TX with his wife and three children. He also writes a theoretically-popular regular column for www.TheClevelandFan.com and is on Twitter as @stevebuffum. Email him at steve.buffum@gmail.com
